2025 Second-Half Safety Seminar
In November 2025, a Safety Seminar for LNG officers of Dongji Maritime Office was held under Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
The seminar was jointly conducted by MOL Global Shipmanagement (GSM) under MOL Singapore and MOL LNG Transport (Japan).
It provided a valuable opportunity to share a wide range of information with seafaring personnel, including safety updates, vessel operation matters, and the latest international trends.
Opening Message
MOL Ship Management Strategy and Supervising Div. (Energy)
General Manager Captain OGURA Shinsuke
The seminar began with opening message by Director Ogura san from the MOL Head Office.
He presented the Head Office’s analysis of the recurring issues observed across the MOL fleet and explained the proposed measures to prevent their recurrence.
He also emphasized the importance of the continued cooperation between Dongji Maritime and MOL.
Working / Rest Hour Management

Nagano san and Nishida san from MOL’s ENCRW team emphasized MOL’s Human Rights Policy and the prohibition of modifying Work & Rest Hours.
They also reviewed recent NC cases and discussed corrective actions and preventive measures.
Furthermore, they shared views on the need to enhance transparency in seafarers’ working-hour management, ensure accuracy in reporting procedures to the Ship Manager, and reinforce the responsibilities of senior officers.
Overview of LNG Business with Future Outlook

Omomo san delivered a presentation titled “MOL Qatar LNG Business.”
He explained that, as of 2025, MOL operates LNG/FSRU/FSU vessels and continues to maintain its No.1 position in the industry.
He also shared MOL’s plan to introduce the Wind Challenger system to LNG carriers starting from 2026.
In addition, he expressed his appreciation to our company for the urgent support provided for the NORTH LIGHT crew deployment.
Latest information on Ship Shore Compatibility

SSC Officer Kim Wannyun delivered a presentation titled “Ship Shore Compatibility Study Overview.”
He shared the SSC team’s processes, including the preparation of the Compatibility List and the Optimoor-based mooring study, and emphasized the importance of collaboration in ensuring vessel operability and terminal compatibility.
He also highlighted that safe berthing and operations require close teamwork among the vessel crew, the SSC team, the vessel owner, the terminal, and the charterer.

Inspector Kim Dae-Gyeom presented several recent incident cases and highlighted the following points:

DONGJI notice to Korean seafarers
DONGJI MARITIME Executive Director Shin J.Y.
Shin san, Executive Director of Dongji Maritime, discussed the alcohol-related issues currently emerging within MOL and reviewed the possibility of loading zero-alcohol beverages as an alternative to beer to minimize alcohol-related risks among Korean crew.
He also shared the 2026 Korean Fresh Graduator recruitment status and explained the upcoming crew recruitment plan and key schedules.
CBT & Rank step

MOLLNG SFT Manning S/I Sekine san shared updates on the Rank Step system and the progress of CBT (Computer Based Training).
She also presented the CBT status for each vessel, emphasizing that seafarers are required to complete at least two CBT modules per month in accordance with the SMS.
Work & Rest Hours for Seafarer Safety & Well-being - Workshop

They explained the importance of maintaining a balanced work and rest hour, managing fatigue and stress, and how the quality of meals affects both job performance and mental well-being.
In addition, an MLC-related quiz session was conducted to engage the Korean crew’s interest and encourage active participation.

Omomo san presented on the Qatar LNG Business and shared that Qatar Energy highly values MOL’s vessel and crew management quality, particularly noting MOL’s immediate and transparent reporting when any issue occurs.
The Commercial Team explained that LNGC crew members are expected to prioritize the health and safety of themselves and their families.
It was further emphasized that maintaining safe and stable daily vessel operations and optimizing OPEX expenditure are key expectations.
Navigation Safety and Collision Prevention Campaign

Amit san reviewed the incident involving damage caused by fishing vessels and discussed the actions expected of an OOW, including appropriate responses and areas for improvement.
He shared key precautions and reminders through a navigation safety campaign focused on operating in areas with heavy fishing traffic.
Best practices for safe navigation were reviewed, emphasizing situational awareness, clear communication, and effective cross-checking.
Less Emission More Tomorrow

TSI Lee provided an overview of international greenhouse-gas reduction regulations from the perspective of vessel operations in response to climate change.
He explained the technical measures that ships can adopt to address climate-related challenges, as well as the key information that seafarers should be aware of.

Fuchitsuka san presented four recent human-injury cases that occurred within the MOL fleet and explained the analysis of each case along with the corresponding preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
While explaining the Hierarchy of Controls, he shared useful guidance on how to prioritize risk assessments on board to effectively minimize potential risks.
The Presenter who presented the incident cases during this Safety Seminar emphasized the importance of thoroughly understanding MOL’s procedures (SMS: Safety Management System) and applying them properly in daily operations.
